Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter after a post revealed goalkeeper Conor Hazard is ready to quit the club this summer if he doesn’t receive first-team assurances.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has risen through the ranks at Parkhead since joining from Cliftonville in his native Northern Ireland back in 2014.

Hazard has enjoyed multiple loan spells away from the Hoops with Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Dundee in recent years, gaining valuable first-team experience, however, he has been unable to force his way into the Celtic starting XI on a regular basis.

After keeping four clean sheets in five Scottish Premiership starts throughout December and January, as well as featuring in the delayed 2019/20 Scottish Cup final success against Hearts, Hazard signed a new contract with the Glasgow giants at the beginning of March, extending his deal until 2023.

However, after failing to make an appearance since a 0-0 draw with Livingston on January 16, the youngster has revealed in an interview with The Irish News that he’s ready to depart Celtic Park if he isn’t guaranteed game time: “I think my main focus is I have to get game-time, that has to be one of the non-negotiables now if I’m going to take the next step in my career,” he said.

“With Celtic now, the main aim is to get number one, and I’ll go back and do everything I can to nail that down. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll look at the options in the summer,” although it doesn’t seem as though he’ll be missed too much by the Celtic supporters.

Scott Bain is the current No 1 in John Kennedy’s setup, but with a new manager expected to take charge of the Hoops, Hazard may want to hang around this summer and see if he can impress whoever takes over the reins.
