Many Newcastle United fans have been discussing a news update involving Florian Lejeune that recently emerged on social media.
The Chronicle recently posted an update about Lejeune’s situation, reporting that the defender has been named as Alaves’ best player of 2021 so far by the CIES Football Observatory. The Observatory uses a unique methodology to determine the value and performances of players on the basis of different metrics.
The report claims that Lejeune is impressing on his loan spell in La Liga and it will be interesting to see whether he has a future at St. James’ Park or not.
Was it right to loan out Lejeune?
Yes
No
This update involving Lejeune was relayed on Twitter by NUFC360. Many Newcastle fans made their views clear about the defender.
What did Newcastle fans make of the news about Lejeune?
“Self Destructiveness Done by the club I genuinely thought after the debacle of the failed takeover last year that the PL would low-key screw us over… Instead it’s the club that’s ruining us… Again.”

The 29-year-old Frenchman had joined Newcastle from Eibar in the summer of 2017 but the Magpies loaned him to Alaves in the summer of 2020. A former Manchester City player, Lejeune is currently valued at £3.78 million.
Some other Newcastle fans are also fuming at the decision to loan out the centre-back last summer.
“Yet another decision from the toon that I cant understand.”

Clearly, these Newcastle fans aren’t happy about the fact that Lejeune isn’t at the club and is doing well at another club.
The defender has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, picking up a rating of 6.77/10. Only Joselu – another former Newcastle player at Alaves, has picked up a better rating than Lejeune in the current La Liga season for the side (as per WhoScored).
The 29-year-old has won the second-highest number of aerial duels per game this season for Alaves, making the second-highest number of interceptions per game too (as per WhoScored).
So clearly, Lejeune is enjoying himself at Alaves and considering that Newcastle are in a relegation scrap, it is easy to see why Toon fans miss him.
