Lots of Celtic supporters have been talking about a claim regarding Divock Origi that was recently made by Paul Robinson.

Robinson was recently talking to Football Insider and he discussed the situation of Odsonne Edouard and a potential move to Liverpool for the Frenchman.

Robinson made it clear that if Celtic lose Edouard, Origi could replace the striker if the Belgian can perform consistently at Parkhead, while he feels that signing Origi could be a risk for the Hoops because he hasn’t performed consistently over a long period of time.

Here’s what Robinson had to say in full: “Could he replace Edouard at Celtic? He could be the ideal replacement if he can perform consistently.

“Origi is a top talent and a top athlete. He has been known as a super-sub and he has scored some incredible late goals. But he needs to go and play regularly now, that is the only way he will develop further.

“He is capable of scoring goals, we have seen that. Can he do it consistently for a season though? An amazing player on his day but it remains to be seen as to whether he can do it game after game. It would be a risk for Celtic to sign him because he has never done it for a run of five, six, seven, eight games.”

A post about this was relayed on Facebook by Celtic Insider. Lots of Hoops fans made their views clear about Origi.

What do Celtic fans make of Divock Origi?

Edouard has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days and it was reported that the Reds could be keen to swap Origi and Edouard in a potential deal in the summer. But the same report states that there could be a complication in the deal, as Origi may not be willing to move to Parkhead.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

25-year-old Origi has failed to become a regular for Liverpool in the current campaign. The former Lille man has made only 17 appearances in all competitions. In the Premier League, he’s played only 181 minutes of football under Jurgen Klopp (as per Transfermarkt).

A lot of these Celtic fans like the idea of their club signing Origi to replace Edouard in the summer.

In total, Origi has made 157 appearances for the Reds, scoring 35 times and picking up 14 assists as well. In the 2018/19 season, Origi scored twice in the Champions League semi-final second leg for the Reds against Barcelona, helping them reach the final. He even scored in the final against Tottenham, which shows that when given the chance, he could still be a good player (as per Transfermarkt).

If Edouard leaves, Celtic would need a striker. Origi would presumably play regularly and because of that, it might be a good move for both parties.
