Loads of Celtic fans have been discussing a news update about Liam Shaw that recently emerged on social media.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph recently tweeted about Celtic’s links with Shaw, stating that the Hoops have agreed a pre-contract with the Sheffield Wednesday midfielder. As part of the deal, the Owls will receive a fee of £300,000 in compensation.

This news about Celtic’s move for Shaw caught the attention of multiple Hoops supporters, who made their views clear about the Sheffield Wednesday star.
What did Celtic fans make of the move for Liam Shaw?
“This undoubtedly tells me that Lennon is actually going to be here next season and that is unbelievable especially how he’s handled this season.. a huge boycott is seriously needed at the football club. What a complete shambles this is.“
Sky Sports has stated that Shaw looks set to be a summer signing for the Bhoys, as his contract with Sheffield Wednesday is expiring in the month of June later this year.
The 19-year-old youngster is a central midfielder by trade but he can also play at centre-back. In the current campaign, he has made 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring once in the Championship for the Owls (as per Transfermarkt).
“Hello Luca Connell 2.0. Enjoy playing Morton reserves and random friendlies for 2 year.”
“Said before, we are 100% in for another season with Lennon in charge. Scary thought… To put things into context, given European form, sevco could be in the champions league with a warchest if we don’t qualify. 9 years of a head start completely blown. How has this happened.”
Shane Duffy is only at Parkhead on a loan deal and Hatem Abd Elhamed has already left, with Kristoffer Ajer being linked with a move to Milan.
This suggests that the Bhoys may need depth in midfield and defence next season and Shaw is someone who can offer that. He is still only 19 and might improve in the future too. And since he’s joining for a small compensation fee, the deal may help Celtic make some future re-sale profit as well.
