Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which the club wished their former midfielder, Shaun Maloney, a happy birthday.

In the post, Celtic sent their best wishes to Maloney, who scored 52 goals over his 216 appearances for the Bhoys, on his 38th birthday.

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

The Scot, who has previously held coaching positions at both the Celtic U20 and Celtic reserve sides, is now Roberto Martinez’s number two for the Belgium national team.

And, with Neil Lennon’s position as Celtic manager looking increasingly unstable, as his side are currently 23 points behind league leaders Rangers, Maloney has been mooted as a potential candidate to take over the role as the Celtic boss.

This would appear to be something that some Celtic fans would be keen to see, as, in reaction to the club’s post regarding Maloney, a number of them called for the 38-year-old’s return to Parkhead.

“This would have been nice if it was Shaun getting announced as one of Rafa’s coaches”

@hugheseddie88

“Sure. But have you sacked Neil Lennon yet?”

All in all, it would appear that, in reaction to the club’s post, the majority of these Celtic fans have taken the opportunity to call for Maloney’s return to Glasgow, with some suggesting that the 38-year-old should come back as the manager or a coach, while others simply asked the club whether Lennon had been sacked.
