Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have been left gutted over a transfer claim linking centre-back Davinson Sanchez with a return to Ajax.

In a recent episode of De Telegraaf’s Kick-off podcast, journalist Mike Verweij claimed that the Eredivisie side have enquired as to whether the Colombian would be open to returning to Amsterdam this month (via Football Oranje).

The north London club sealed the arrival of the centre-back from Ajax during the summer of 2017 in a deal worth a whopping £37.8m (as per Transfermarkt).

Sanchez signed for Tottenham just a year on from moving to the capital of the Netherlands for £4.5m from Colombian side Atlético Nacional.

However, despite the interest from the Dutch side, it was claimed that Spurs are not willing to let any of their players leave this month.

This transfer news was shared to supporters on Twitter by The Spurs Express and it had lots of them talking.

So far this season, the centre-back has made seven Premier League appearances for Spurs, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal (per WhoScored).

His performances for the north London club have been fairly unimpressive, too, as he has earned a weak 6.48/10 average rating, making him the squad’s seventh-worst performer.
