Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur have been left gutted over a transfer claim linking centre-back Davinson Sanchez with a return to Ajax.
In a recent episode of De Telegraaf’s Kick-off podcast, journalist Mike Verweij claimed that the Eredivisie side have enquired as to whether the Colombian would be open to returning to Amsterdam this month (via Football Oranje).
The north London club sealed the arrival of the centre-back from Ajax during the summer of 2017 in a deal worth a whopping £37.8m (as per Transfermarkt).
Sanchez signed for Tottenham just a year on from moving to the capital of the Netherlands for £4.5m from Colombian side Atlético Nacional.
However, despite the interest from the Dutch side, it was claimed that Spurs are not willing to let any of their players leave this month.
This transfer news was shared to supporters on Twitter by The Spurs Express and it had lots of them talking.
So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about the transfer claim on Davinson Sanchez?
“Pleaseeeeeeeeee sell him I hate himmm”
“WHY ARE WE SUCH FRAUDS”
The 24-year-old defender has until the summer of 2024 on his existing deal with Tottenham and a current market value of £36m according to Transfermarkt.
Should Tottenham be open to selling Davinson Sanchez?
No, he should stay
Yes, he needs to go
“And there is the problem ….won’t get rid of dead wood and players that arnt good enough”
“I will take him to airport”
So far this season, the centre-back has made seven Premier League appearances for Spurs, in which he has neither scored nor assisted a goal (per WhoScored).
His performances for the north London club have been fairly unimpressive, too, as he has earned a weak 6.48/10 average rating, making him the squad’s seventh-worst performer.
“Just give him back”
“I hate this club no but for real this is the month to sell and to get cash if you get good offers its noxw to accept it especially for these players”
As can be seen in these responses from Spurs fans, they were not happy that the club seemingly swerved the chance to sell their Colombian centre-back.
