Many Celtic fans have been fuming at Mark Warburton after some of his comments recently emerged on social media.

Warburton was recently talking to The Scottish Sun and he gave his opinion about the upcoming Old Firm derby. He made it clear that he fancies the Gers to beat Celtic. He believes that the gap between the two teams has now reduced and even believes that Steven Gerrard’s men could win the title this season (as per the Scottish Sun).

A tweet about these comments was relayed on Twitter by the Scottish Sun recently. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they weren’t happy with what Warburton had to say about the Old Firm derby.

Warburton also said that he has ‘sympathy’ for Neil Lennon considering the number of positive tests that they’ve had in recent days. He believes that since Lennon could have as many as four players missing, it is a tough situation for the Celtic boss.

A total of three Old Firm derbies were played last season, with Celtic winning two, including the League Cup final (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans were also left to mock Warburton and his comments.

Celtic are currently second in the Premiership table but they have a game in hand and they’re only one point behind Rangers. A win in the upcoming derby will take them to the top of the league (as per BBC Sport).

Celtic have won all of their last five league games, while Rangers have won four and drawn once. This shows that Lennon’s men have the edge in terms of form and since the last three meetings involving the two clubs have seen Celtic win twice, the Hoops have a better recent head-to-head record in the fixture as well.

Hoops fans can only hope that their club can build on this and win the derby to prove Warburton wrong in a fitting way.
