Speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Everton are the team that he is most excited about this season.
Following a summer transfer window which saw the arrivals of James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford, Allan from Napoli and Ben Godfrey from Norwich City, Everton have got off to a blistering start in their 2020/21 campaign.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side currently sit top of the Premier League table, having won all four of their opening league fixtures, with new signings Rodriguez, Allan and Doucoure all highly impressing for the Toffees, averaging WhoScored match ratings of 8.41, 7.18 and 7.05 respectively.
In addition to this, centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin already has six Premier League goals to his name, as well as boasting an incredible WhoScored match rating of 8.32, while Richarlison has also impressed, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the league, averaging a match rating of 7.89.
It would seem that Everton’s transfer business, as well as their fine start to the league campaign, has impressed Romano, as in response to a question on the Here We Go podcast as to which Premier League side he is most excited about this season, the journalist singled out the Toffees.
He said: “I want to say Everton, because I’m convinced Ancelotti is [at] the perfect club. He’s happy with the board, he’s happy with the players, he’s happy because they signed James Rodriguez, he’s happy about many things at Everton, so I’m really excited to see Everton.
“They are doing [very] well, they’ve started in a fantastic way. They are happy when they play football. When you see a fantastic group, it’s not just about the team, it’s also about the groups, the dressing room. You see happy guys, [a] happy manager, [a] happy board.
“[Ancelotti] said, ‘let’s buy Doucoure, James Rodriguez, Allan’ and they signed the [players] he wanted. So, when you have this kind of magic in the club and the manager and the players, you can do important things.”

From Romano’s comments, it is clear that he is indeed very excited about Everton this season, with the journalist appearing to be of the belief that the club’s decision to back their manager in the transfer market could lead to the Toffees achieving great things this year.
And considering the start the club have made to their 2020/21 campaign, at present, it looks as if the journalist could well be justified in his excitement over the Goodison Park club’s season.
