Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest news update involving Fraser Forster that recently emerged on social media.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph recently sent out a tweet, saying that Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has now confirmed that Alex McCarthy will be the club’s number-one goalkeeper for the 2020/21 season, and that the Austrian claimed Forster or Angus Gunn will be loaned out.
This comes more than two months after Forster had decided to fight for his place at Southampton and refused to return to Celtic, where he had spent the 2019/20 season on loan.
This tweet from Joseph caught the attention of a lot of Celtic fans. They made their opinions very clear about the Englishman’s situation.

During his loan stint at Celtic, Forster was a regular between the sticks for the Hoops. He made 39 appearances in all competitions for the club, keeping 17 clean sheets during that time (as per Transfermarkt).
Neil Lennon had confirmed that while a deal was agreed between Celtic and the Saints, things had ‘gone quiet’ from the player’s end during negotiations. Some other Celtic fans also talked about Forster and began mocking the goalkeeper.

Forster had impressed for Celtic in the club’s Europa League campaign last season, as he picked up pretty good ratings in their games against Lazio, Cluj, Rennes and Copenhagen.
Celtic have since signed Vasilis Barkas, who has become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Therefore, they might not need another goalkeeper for the first-choice spot. So it does seem as if Forster has missed out on the chance to return to Celtic and play regularly between the sticks for the Hoops once again.
