Some Leeds United fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Whites news Twitter account @LufcTransfer which shares that Brighton and Hove Albion are allegedly ‘looking for £55m or more’ for Ben White.

White spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Leeds United, playing a pivotal role in the Yorkshire-based club’s Championship-winning campaign, as he played every minute of the club’s games in England’s second tier last season. The centre-back was also Leeds’ fifth-highest-rated player for the campaign, according to WhoScored, earning an overall rating of 7.09/10 from his 46 Championship appearances.

With that in mind, it mightn’t be too surprising that reports have claimed that Leeds are hoping to bring the player back to Elland Road for the 2020/21 campaign, with The Athletic recently reporting that Leeds have already unsuccessfully offered ‘an up-front figure’ of £22m, with additional incentives, for the 22-year-old.

This article also stated that Leeds ‘are willing to push their valuation closer to £30m’, however, as per Times journalist Duncan Castles on a recent edition of The Transfer Window podcast, the Seagulls are hoping to receive a transfer fee of £55m or more for the player.

After this alleged news was shared on Twitter by @LufcTransfer, plenty of Whites supporters flocked to the tweet to share their thoughts on this update.

Many of the Leeds fans who replied to this tweet disagreed with this valuation of White, with plenty of them calling for the club to move on from the 22-year-old and focus on other targets instead.

NO

Considering that he is yet to play a game in the top flight, as well as the fact that Transfermarkt currently values him at £4.95m, it’s understandable why these Leeds fans feel that £55m would be an excessive transfer fee to pay for White.
