Gavin Doyle, Grizz Khan, Keith Plunkett and Sean Lawson discussed all things Liverpool on the latest edition of LFC Daytrippers’ FB4 Podcast and the panel spent some time talking about the future of Reds winger Harry Wilson during the show.

Wilson is a Liverpool academy product. The winger has made just one appearance for the Reds’ senior squad thus far in his career, playing 25 minutes of senior football for the Merseyside club in the FA Cup back in the 2016/17 campaign.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

He managed to gain some Premier League experience last season when he joined Bournemouth on loan and made 31 appearances in England’s top-flight for them. The Cherries were relegated, however, Wilson ended the season as the club’s second-highest Premier League goalscorer, as he hit the back of the net on seven occasions in England’s top-flight during the 2019/20 campaign, as per WhoScored.

The £15.75m-rated winger was unable to join the Reds for their pre-season training camp in Austria due to injury and there has been some speculation about his future this summer, with Newcastle United said to be interested in signing the 23-year-old on loan and with newly-promoted Leeds United ‘reported to have made an approach’ to sign the player on a permanent deal.

During this recent edition of LFC Daytrippers’ FB4 Podcast, Doyle shared some doubt over the 23-year-old’s future at Anfield, saying: “Has Harry Wilson travelled to Austria? No, so that’s a fairly telling sign. For someone that finished their Premier League campaign nearly a month ago, he should be there if he’s in Liverpool’s plans in any way, even to be assessed and looked at as well.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging by the podcaster’s comments about the player, it appears as though he believes that Wilson would be with the Reds in Austria for pre-season if he were in the club’s plans for the 2020/21 campaign.

However, the player’s absence is said to be due to injury, with the 2019/20 Premier League Young Player of the Season Trent Alexander-Arnold also missing out on the club’s trip to Austria as a result of an injury, so with that in mind, it may yet be too soon to definitively say that the player is not in Liverpool’s plans for the coming season.
