Many Celtic fans have been talking about the latest news linking them with a move to sign Vasilios Barkas after it emerged that personal terms had reportedly been agreed with the player.
Sportime (via Daily Record) have recently reported about Barkas, saying that Celtic have now made a new bid to sign the goalkeeper with a value of around £5 million. Having thought to have agreed on personal terms, the report claims that the Hoops are now ‘nearing a fee’ for the 26-year-old Greek.
This information was relayed on Twitter by CelticBible recently and it caught the attention of many Celtic fans. They flocked to the tweet and made their opinions very clear.
Are you confident that Celtic will sign Barkas?
Yes, we will!
I have my doubts
5 Million would be a steal for this guy. Looks quality

These Celtic fans seem glad that the club is trying to sign Barkas.
The 26-year-old arrived at AEK Athens in the summer of 2016 from another Greek club in Atromitos (via Transfermarkt). Some more Celtic fans made it clear that they are happy about this update.
Hopefully that’s true

That’s more like it. Still can’t believe forster would rather sit on Southampton bench rather than being a legend for 10IAR for Celtic. Silly.

Barkas kept 16 clean sheets for AEK in the 2019/20 campaign. He was a regular for the club and played 33 games in all competitions (via Transfermarkt). He is already an established player for the Greek national team and has made 10 appearances for the country’s senior side.
He also offers some Champions League and Europa League experience. Because of his age, he can still improve as a footballer and is a younger option than Fraser Forster, so it is no surprise that Celtic are looking at the possibility of signing Barkas.
