Many Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter to respond to the club’s announcement they have signed the Greek international goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas.
Barkas has joined the Hoops on a four-year deal from AEK Athens and told the club’s official channel: “I’m very happy to be here, it’s a dream to come to one of the biggest teams in Europe and I can’t wait to play for Celtic.”
The 26-year-old stopper has made 10 appearances for his country to date and during the 2019/20 season, he made 20 appearances, conceding 15 goals and keeping 10 clean sheets (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Here is how a sample of the Celtic faithful have responded to the post announcing his arrival at Parkhead.
Terrible signing. Forster, Hart & Boruc would’ve been better signings than this unknown. Lennon Out.

Should have signed someone who knows the Scottish game, like Trevor Carson. Gambling with the ten!

Are you pleased with the signing of Vasilis Barkas?

No
As is evident from the above replies, not all of the club’s supporters were pleased to learn of the news, with one fan suggesting it was a ‘terrible signing’. Others, however, had a more positive response.

Barkas joined AEK Athens from Atromitos in July 2016 for £540k and having made over 100 appearances for one of Greece’s biggest clubs he joins Celtic ahead of a huge season for the club with plenty of experience.
