Supporters of Leeds United have been flocking to a Twitter post from Phil Hay which relayed an article that he had written for The Athletic.
In the post on The Athletic’s website, Hay discussed Leeds’ 16-year stay in the EFL following their Premier League relegation in 2004.
Hay details several examples of misfortune in the time which the Whites have been absent from the top flight, before discussing the club’s current manager, Marcelo Bielsa.
The journalist then finished the piece off by stating: ‘Sixteen years in return for redemption with Bielsa? You’d almost say it’s a fair price.’
After Hay shared his post to social media, however, lots of the Elland Road faithful let the journalist know of their enjoyment of the post as they flocked to comment on it.
? No paywall for this article as the Championship prepares to return.
Bielsa landing in Leeds was like a guardian angel flying into purgatory. I sat down and thought about the last 16 years at Elland Road and let the memories spill out:https://t.co/va3n2gIQTU

Bielsa’s side are set to return to Championship action on Sunday; they travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to face the Bluebirds in a lunchtime kick-off.
Great read Phil, enjoyed that. Let’s hope we’re promoted but regardless I’ve fallen back in love

Superb article… Almost too crazy to be true!
An @SkySports TV version of this article will make a nice 30 min retrospective ahead of our first televised Prem game

With nine league matches remaining, Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table leading second-placed West Bromwich Albion by one point.
Will Leeds United be Championship champions under Marcelo Bielsa this season?Yes, it's going to happenNo, we'll bottle it |
While their lead at the top of the table is narrow, Leeds are comfortably inside the automatic promotion spots as they are seven points ahead of third-placed Fulham.
This is brilliant – your best piece to-date
