Some Celtic fans have been fuming at the latest tweet that was relayed by the club’s official store.
Celtic FC Shop recently posted a tweet, promoting the launch of the club’s official protective face mask. The tweet also revealed that the mask is available to pre-order from 21st July.
But as this tweet caught the attention of many Celtic fans, many weren’t pleased. Some of them believe that the club is taking advantage of the pandemic to make financial profits through mask sales. They made their opinions very clear.
Cashing in again

The tweet also had a link to the club’s store and which had further details about the face mask, which costs £8. The page also includes details about how to use the mask properly.
Celtic fans, though, weren’t happy about the club’s decision to launch the mask at this point of time.
Shameless!

Clearly, these Celtic fans aren’t happy at all with this tweet. They feel it isn’t good that the club is using the pandemic as a means of earning more money from fans, while some aren’t pleased about the price tag.
However, the club do suggest that a certain percentage of the earnings will be donated to the Celtic FC Foundation, while they are not the only club to have released a face mask as official merchandise. European champions Liverpool have also released their own face masks for the club’s fans, as have Borussia Dortmund. So clearly, there are two ways to look at this – and while Celtic may feel they are providing a service in supplying face coverings at a time where wearing such equipment is being advised, it is clear that some fans have taken a cynical point of view.
