Was the refereeing of this clash between West Brom and Charlton Athletic poor?

What do we think?

As explained by the BBC in their post-match report from this game, in addition to having a stoppage-time penalty given against them, West Brom’s Nathan Ferguson received a red card in the 67th minute of this fixture.

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic was also critical of the refereeing of this game, as reported by the BBC, who quote the Croatian as stating that the decision to give the penalty was “scary”. Charlton manager Lee Bowyer is also quoted as saying that the penalty decision “looked soft”, despite the fact that the decision ruled in favour of his side.

Considering that they received a red card and had a stoppage-time penalty given against them in this game, it may be understandable why some Baggies fans have been critical of the refereeing of this fixture.
