Fans of Rangers have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Patrick Thistle’s official account discusses a story in the Sunday Mail.
The back page of the Sunday Mail featured both Hearts and Partick Thistle’s badges being stabbed with a bloody knife, with the headline “Don’t Start New War“, in relation to the story regarding Hearts’ call for a reconstruction of Scottish league football.
In reaction to the story, Partick Thistle issued a statement on their Twitter page on Sunday afternoon, stating: “Re: today’s Sunday Mail back page. Completely inappropriate, shocking and irresponsible. Our club crest should never have been used in this way. The club awaits an explanation and apology for the unwarranted use of this violent image.”
In reaction to this post, fans of Rangers have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many claiming that the headline and story ran by the paper demonstrates the low level of journalism in the country.
Do you think the Sunday Mail's back page was inappropriate?

This is the gutter level our MSM is now!

That is truly disgudting but typical of what calls itself the media in scotland.

That is horrendous, especially with the amount of violent knife crime happening daily. ?

@spfl and the Scottish media have acted with full integrity in how they governed the league ended prematurely with the unbiased, investigative reporting.
Why newspapers are yesterdays news and why Scottish football has no sponsors for next season is unbelievable.— officersfa (@sfacompliance) May 17, 2020
@lewiskennedy6 this is unreal.

Really no need for that.

Not surprised this rag stopped being relevant many years ago, now stoops to the lowest common denominator

What do we think?
Many of these Rangers fans would appear to believe that the image used on the back page of the Sunday Mail was inappropriate, and we say to say that we agree.
While it is not surprising that Rangers fans have taken the side of Partick Thistle and Hearts given the recent votes on the Scottish football season and the potential reconstruction of the league which would have saved both clubs from relegation, the image the paper decided to publish was extremely graphic, and regardless of the paper’s opinion on the matter, the picture of the knife certainly does seem to cross a line.
