Many Leeds United fans have been discussing former midfielder Olivier Dacourt after the Frenchman responded to a fan’s tweet. The now 45-year-old represented the club between July 2000 and his departure to Roma in 2003 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
When he was sold, the club managed to recuperate pretty much half of the £9.45m they paid RC Lens for his services in the first place. During spells with both the Whites, Everton and Fulham, Dacourt made 96 Premier League appearances in total, scoring five goals along the way.
The fan described a dream he had in which he saw the former Leeds star ‘casually walking up some street in the full yellow away kit from the 00/01 season’. In response, the former defensive midfielder tweeted: ‘Maybe next year at Elland Road when @LUFC will be in Premier League.’ Here’s how some of the fans have responded.

Met you in town when I was 7/8 asked you for your autograph but none of us had a pen so you gave me a photo, couldn’t wait for my mum to get the photo printed off to take to school and show everyone ?

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that Dacourt is held in very high esteem by these Leeds United supporters. The club were close to securing promotion back to the Premier League prior to the suspension of the Championship due to the recent viral outbreak for the first time since their relegation in 2004, so perhaps the Frenchman will be able to make the supporter’s dream come true in the not-too-distant future.
