A group of Leeds United supporters have been discussing the recent comments of their former player Lee Bowyer. Speaking to TalkSPORT, as reported by Leeds Live, the 43-year-old said: “I’m delighted for Leeds. To be fair, they deserve to go up as they are the best side in our division.”
The Whites currently sit top of the Championship, seven points clear of Fulham in third place (as per BBC Sport) and Bowyer, who currently manages Charlton Athletic, went on to say: “I think the Premier League needs Leeds, it needs their support. It’s a great atmosphere, a great ground to play at.”
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to his comments via Twitter.
Yes Lee Bowyer, he’s one of our own, he’s one of our own.

Still can’t forgive him for the damage done to the club, and hate him more for his ungrateful attitude afterwards.
I sincerely hope for his total failure.— Simon Walker (@SimonWa19449827) May 24, 2020
What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that Bowyer’s comments have gone down well with these Leeds United fans, though some weren’t so happy to heap praise on the former Whites man. He represented the club between July 1996 and January 2003 after joining from Charlton Athletic (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
The Championship players were due to resume group training at the start of this week and these fans will be hoping the team can push on and achieve promotion back to the top flight for the first time since their relegation at the end of the 2003/04 season.
