A group of Leeds United supporters have slammed Aston Villa following reports of top-flight clubs’ refusals to end the Premier League season unless relegation is cancelled. It’s recently come to light that more clubs would be open to the idea of playing their remaining fixtures at neutral venues if the threat of relegation was removed from the equation (as per BBC Sport).
Whilst the reports don’t specifically name the Birmingham-based club, many Whites fans have assumed that given their precarious league position, they are one of the clubs lobbying for an adjustment to this season’s rules.
There is also a sense of irony and hypocrisy felt among the Leeds fanbase, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side involved in a controversial incident with the Villans last season at Elland Road when the Whites scored a goal whilst an opposition player was down injured. The Argentinian coach then ordered his side to allow their opponents to equalise after their sportsmanship was questioned.
The two clubs have a history as a result, and here is what some of the Leeds faithful have had to say regarding @LewisDeighton17‘s post.
Couldn’t agree more. They only want to sporting when it’s to their advantage.
Get them relegated. They deserve nothing better— Paul Howard (@paulshoward1950) May 4, 2020
Agreed. I think the villa stance is fundamentally disgraceful. Hypocrisy of the highest order. They should be relegated…….fact is, finishing 5th they should not be in that position anyway….

Play to the whistle…

You are absolutely spot on Lewis, I couldn’t have put it any better myself. It’s time that EUFA stepped in and sorted out the spineless EPL and FA. They’re running scared of the bottom clubs who have the finances to sue if they’re relegated. Shame on them.

Brilliant tweet.

If they refuse to finish the season relegate them anyway…. There’ll be all sorts of breaches of contract etc etc etc and so

What do we think?
It’s clear that these Leeds United fans aren’t impressed by the stance reportedly taken by a number of the Premier League’s clubs and there is no love lost between themselves and Aston Villa.
