Some West Brom fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account which reminded fans of the club that they had been scheduled to be facing off against Blackburn Rovers on Monday evening.
The Baggies would have been set to travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn on Monday 13th April before the postponement of professional football in England, as confirmed in an announcement that was shared via the EFL’s official website on 13th March.
West Brom’s tweet also included footage on Grady Diangana’s superb effort against Rovers in the reverse fixture back in August.
Some Baggies supporters have been reacting to this tweet with a sense of sorrow, sharing that they believe that they could have been celebrating promotion to the Premier League by now, while others waxed lyrical over Diangana’s special strike. What do we think?
Prior to the postponement of professional football in England, it may be fair to say that the Baggies put themselves into a somewhat positive position to achieve promotion to the Premier League for next season. West Brom currently sit in second place in the Championship table, earning 70 points from their 37 league games thus far.
Had English football not been postponed, it is possible that the Baggies could have secured promotion to the Premier League by now, provided other results had gone their way. As a result, it may be understandable why some Baggies fans may be somewhat anxious to see English football get back underway.
