Leeds United fans have been paying tribute to their former midfielder Olivier Dacourt on Twitter in response to @barney__21‘s post. The Frenchman joined the Whites back in 2000 from Lens in a deal reportedly worth £9.45m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Dacourt went on to play 81 times for the Yorkshire based club, during which he scored three goals and provided two assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk). 13 of his appearances for Leeds came in the UEFA Champions League during a very successful era for the Whites.

It’s clear from the above responses that Olivier Dacourt was a real favourite amongst the Elland Road faithful. He eventually left the club to join the Serie A giants Roma in July 2003 after spending half a season there on loan (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

Dacourt retired from professional football in February 2010 and the last club he represented was Standard Liege of Belgium.
