Salim Lamrani has shared Liam Cooper’s comments regarding his teammate, Gaetano Berardi, via Twitter. The Leeds United skipper has been answering some questions from the supporters for the club’s official website.
One of the questions put to Cooper was: ‘Out of all the squad, who would win in an LUFC Royal Rumble?’ It will come as no surprise to many that he named the 31-year-old, referring to him as ‘an animal’ and claiming that in that situation he doesn’t think ‘anyone would go near him.’
Here is how some of the fans responded to the skipper’s comments.
You’d have him by your side in a tight spot ???

Love Berra! Hope he gets a new contract when we go up. He’s a real team player.

Does Gaetano Berardi deserve one more year?
Yes
No
Anyone who plays until they bleed is good enough for LUFC

What do we think?
Berardi’s contract with the club is due to expire at the end of this season and as of yet, there is no indication he will be offered an extension (via Leeds Live). The Swiss defender has represented the Whites on 150 occasions to date, scoring twice and providing seven assists. He’s made 17 appearances in the Championship so far this season and his average performance rating currently stands at 6.63/10 (via WhoScored.com).
It’s clear from the above responses that even though his days at Elland Road appear to be numbered, the former Sampdoria defender is a very popular figure amongst the fans and his teammates.
