Some Celtic fans have lauded a recent tweet that former player Simon Donnelly sent out on Twitter.
Donnelly’s tweet asked fans for their opinions about how the Hoops had managed to stop their Old Firm rivals from winning a 10th title in a row back in 1998. This had happened after Celtic had beaten St. Johnstone on the last day of the season. Donnelly asked fans about what importance that game carries in the club’s history.
On seeing this tweet, many Celtic fans were raving about those times.
Huge. Stopping them from ten in a row! Remember at the game, being so bnervous but the atmosphere at the end was amazing. Then party time that night @StellaCeltic @pistola67 ?

Where does the 1998 game rank in Celtic history?
The best!
Special, but not the best
It was that important if they won it , it would still be the day after it . A great darkness would have consumed the land but you and the rest of your team brought a ray of light that would start to turn the tide in our city . #Smelltheglove ???

It was the beginning of the end of a certain club. It was monumental!

Up there, starting point of the current dominance.

As important as they come I’d say. Even more so now we’re on the brink of 10 ??……and that will happen ?

Don’t think it can be underestimated, nothing eclipses 67 but all recent success on and off the pitch was started with the building block of that day. ????????????HH

What do we think?
Celtic won the 1997/98 title after their 2-0 victory over St. Johnstone that day. Considering it stopped Rangers from winning a 10th title in a row, this particular title win for the Hoops was certainly a joyful moment for everyone connected to the club.
Since the Hoops are currently on a run of eight titles in a row themselves (via Transfermarkt), it will be special if they go on to reach that milestone themselves by the end of next season.
