Many Birmingham City fans have been reacting with frustration to a recent tweet from the club’s official Twitter account which shared a link to a statement from the Blues’ official website announcing that the EFL will appeal “the decision of the independent disciplinary commission in March 2020 dismissing the misconduct charge” that they recently brought against the Blues.

The EFL had brought a charge against Birmingham City for allegedly breaching “an agreed business plan”, however, as per the BBC, the independent disciplinary commission which heard this case decided to clear the Blues of any wrongdoing.

In a recent update on this case, the EFL has since decided to appeal this decision. As a result, “a new commission” is now set to be appointed to hear the EFL’s appeal, according to the BBC

Many Blues supporters have been angered by the EFL’s decision to appeal the verdict of their misconduct charge, with some even calling for the club to sue the EFL. What do we think?

It may be understandable why some Blues supporters are feeling frustrated at the EFL’s decision to appeal the verdict of their recent misconduct charge. Birmingham City were docked nine points in the Championship back in March 2019 after being found guilty of breaching the EFL’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Considering this, it may have been a relief for many Blues fans to have seen the independent disciplinary commission dismiss this most recent misconduct charge. Though with that in mind, it may be understandable why many Birmingham supporters have been frustrated by the EFL’s decision to appeal this verdict.
