Some Leicester City fans have been reacting to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account, sharing footage of a classic Leicester City hat-trick which was scored by their former centre-forward Steve Howard.

Howard scored six goals in 21 Championship appearances for the Foxes during the 2007/08 season, after joining Leicester City from Derby County for a transfer fee of £2.03m in January 2008

Howard’s signing wasn’t enough to keep Leicester City in the Championship that season, as the Foxes were relegated to League One at the end of the 2007/08 campaign, after finishing in 22nd place on the Championship table.

Despite ultimately suffering relegation to League One that season, Leicester’s January signing Howard may have managed to provide some Foxes fans with at least one positive memory of the 2007/08 season, as he scored a hat-trick to help Leicester earn a 4-1 victory over West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Leicester City’s official Twitter account recently posted footage of this classic Howard hat-trick, which has got some Foxes supporters talking. Read the reactions of some Leicester supporters to Howard’s classic 2007/08 hat-trick at The Hawthorns in the tweets below.

Who holds the record of having scored the quickest goal in Premier League history?

What do we think?

While the memory of Howard’s hat-trick at The Hawthorns may be unlikely to make up for the painful memory which may be shared by many Leicester supporters of their 2007/08 relegation from the Championship, it might be fair to say that Howard’s hat-trick and Leicester’s 4-1 win over West Brom may have given Foxes supporters some hope, for a period, that they may have managed to avoid the drop during the 2007/08 season.

It may be understandable for some Leicester supporters to have positive memories of this hat-trick, considering it may have provided a bright spark in an otherwise negative campaign.
