Leicester City have agreed personal terms to sign Fiorentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez, according to reports in the last 24 hours.

The Foxes have had a disappointing first half of the season and find themselves just two points above the relegation zone, with the need for attacking reinforcements clear.

Brendan Rodgers’ side made a £30m offer for the Argentine earlier this month in the hope of securing his services, and a significant breakthrough in negotiations has now been made.

According to 90min, Leicester have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with Gonzalez and are ‘pushing ahead’ with their move to complete this deal before the end of the window.

Fiorentina are ‘yet to accept’ the club’s official bid and are still ‘considering their options’, but the 24-year-old would ‘double his wages’ should he make the switch to the King Power Stadium.

Chief executive officer Joe Barone has revealed that the club aren’t looking to sell the attacker, but the source claims they are currently in the process of identifying replacements, which suggests that the top-flight side’s target is on his way to the Midlands.

TIF thoughts on Gonzalez to Leicester…

Gonzalez has been dubbed a full-back’s ‘nightmare’ by Josh Bunting and he could be the striking force that Leicester have ever so badly been crying out for.

The Serie A star has so far scored five goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season and is a versatile player with the ability to operate in three different positions (Transfermarkt).

Despite only being 5 foot 9, Gonzalez also ranks in the 99th percentile for aerials wins, showing that he’s just as much a threat off the ground as he is on it.
