Some Celtic fans have been debating about what formation they would use in the upcoming Old Firm derby in the Premiership.
The Hoops are currently at the top of the table in the league and have a 12-point lead at the pinnacle over fierce-rivals Rangers. But both sides will go head to head in the Old Firm derby later this month. That game takes place on the 15th of March at Ibrox.
A Celtic fan with the name ‘George Just’ posted about the upcoming game and asked fellow Hoops fans as to what formation they would use against Steven Gerrard’s men.
What formation should Celtic use against Rangers?
4-2-3-1
3-5-2
First of all we study the last 2 games against them and work out why an inferior team and players played us off the park

Forster
Elhamed jullien Ajer

Would play a 4-5-1 and contain them we don’t have to win, they do as long as we don’t let there full backs get up the park we will get them on the counter
Or we go for broke 3-5-3

Unpopular opinion. But we should play 4-5-1 and just sit in. They can’t break teams down. They’ll get frustrated. And we’re lethal on the break

Forster
Elhamed Jules Ajer Taylor
Brown
Ntcham Calmac
Christie
Moi
EddieI’d play a diamond, moi as secondary striker starting on the left but given the freedom to come inside.

I think he has to try the 3 5 2 as they’ve overpowered us in midfield in the last two games. Forster, Elhamed (if fit), Ajer, Julien, Calmac, Broony, Christie, Forrest, Taylor, Eduoard, Griff

What do we think?
Since the start of 2020, Celtic have played a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-1-2 shape in every Premiership game bar the game against Ross County.
It might not be a coincidence that they are yet to lose a single Premiership game this year. Since the three-at-the-back seems to have done a lot of good to them in terms of picking up wins and losing games, that could be something Neil Lennon prefers against Rangers.
