Some Birmingham City fans have been sharing their frustration with Jefferson Montero’s performance in Wednesday’s FA Cup clash with Leicester City.
Some Blues supporters have singled out Montero’s performance in Wednesday’s game. Montero was on the pitch for just six minutes versus Leicester. Despite being on the pitch for a relatively short amount of time, Montero managed to get dispossessed a total of three times. This meant that the former Ecuador international was dispossessed on more occasions than any other player on the pitch in Wednesday’s game, from either side, according to WhoScored.com.
Montero’s performance during his short amount of time on the pitch versus Leicester City led to the 30-year-old winger receiving criticism from some Blues supporters on social media. Read the critical posts from some Birmingham fans regarding Montero’s performance versus Leicester in the tweets below.
Was Jefferson Montero the worst player on the pitch in Birmingham's game versus Leicester CityYES, MONTERO WAS THE WORST PLAYER ON THE PITCHNO, MONTERO WAS NOT THAT BAD |
We lost 1-0 to 3rd in the Premier League. The only negative imo was Montero travelling with the squad #bcfc

I’ll take a narrow loss to a decent Prem side what a great defensive performance especially by Peds and Dean. Shame Montero couldn’t have put that ball in quicker at the end he can go back to Swansea #bcfc

1% fit Bellingham is a million miles better than a 100% Jefferson Montero.
Rather just blood a youngster on the wing, than waste time with him now. Not gonna be here next year, and offers nothing, so what’s the point? #bcfc

I mean for 82 minutes we took it to them looked soild good performance just think we lacked abit creativity with no Jude or Bela but team should take credit we matched them #Bcfc but never want Jeff Montero to play again!

Bit underwhelmed with that in the end. Thought Leicester were there for the taking but we did nothing going forward. Harding was a bit of a strange selection at RM. We were solid defensively though. Montero is horrendous! Bring on Saturday though winnable one ? #BCFC

Juke is crossing the days off his calendar to when Montero’s loan expires #BCFC

What do we think?
Montero was dispossessed on three occasions despite having touched the ball just 11 times in Wednesday’s FA Cup fixture. Given the relatively high amount of times that the 30-year-old lost the ball versus Leicester within a relatively short period of time on the pitch, it may be understandable for some Blues supporters to have been frustrated by the Ecuadorian in midweek.
