Fans of Newcastle United have been reacting to Lee Ryder’s post on Twitter, in which the Chronicle writer relays the information that Newcastle will face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Cup.

Newcastle, who have won the FA Cup on six previous occasions, were drawn to face Manchester City in Wednesday evening’s quarter-final draw.

The Magpies reached the last eight of the competition by defeating Rochdale 4-1 in a third-round replay, Oxford United 3-2 (AET), once again in a replay, and West Brom 3-2 in the fifth round.

Their opponents, Manchester City, defeated Port Vale 4-1, Fulham 4-0 and Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 to set up the quarter-final tie.

The remaining fixtures of the draw see Sheffield United host Arsenal, Manchester United or Derby travel to Norwich, and Leicester face Chelsea.

In reaction to the draw, Newcastle fans took to social media, with many claiming that they have enjoyed their club’s cup run so far this season, however, that they cannot see it continuing any further than the Manchester City match.

What do we think?

This season is the first time that Newcastle have reached the last eight of the FA Cup since 2006, while Manchester City, who are the holders of the famous trophy, remain on course to complete a domestic and European cup treble, having beaten Aston Villa in the League Cup final last Sunday, and hold a first-leg Champions League lead over Real Madrid 2-1.
