This week, Rangers fans allowed themselves to moan at their club’s most recent sponsorship announcement. The club announced that they were partnering with Donald Trump’s luxury golf course, Trump Turnberry Resort. The Gers’ administration is planning to use the golf course to host a variety of events going forward, while the resort will have access to matchday hospitality at Ibrox (Daily Record).
When the club announced this news on Twitter, fans were slightly shocked. It is widely known that Trump’s presidential term has been fraught with controversy, despite the American president having been recently acquitted during his impeachment trial. The supporters don’t believe the club should be associating with such a polarising figure, calling it a PR disaster.
Really??? Trump??? Are we that desperate?

Appreciate the club needs sponsors but disgusted we are having anything to do with the Trump name.

No thanks Rangers. Very poor to say the least.

Stunningly incompetent & embarrassing.

Who thought this was a good idea? Did we wait until Trump was cleared at his impeachment trial to announce this? Terrible PR misstep.

Do you mind that Rangers have made this partnership?
Take the money
Not worth it
What do we think?
It would be irresponsible of a football site to give their opinion on political matters, however, nobody can dispute the clear divide between those who support America’s president and those who don’t. Rangers may have quite clearly placed themselves on one side of the fence with this announcement, whether intentional or not.
