Spurs fans were shocked to see that they have been crowned the most loyal club in the Premier League.
Analysis from the Ticketgum (via TranSPURS), revealed that the North London club are statistically the most loyal side in the Premier League, closely followed by Manchester City. Spurs have several players in their squad that have been at the club for a number of years, including the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane, Erik Lamela and Hugo Lloris.
Meanwhile, the recent sale of Christian Eriksen to Inter during the January transfer window saw the 27-year-old finish on 305 appearances for the club during his six and a half years there.
Is it a good thing that Spurs are seemingly so loyal?
Yes
No

That is actually an incredible stat. Considering our lower wages and trophy drought and yet our players having been some of the PL top performers in recent years. Got to give Poch credit for loyalty he bred into players

There’s more than 1 reason why players leave or stay at clubs

Very interesting, I’d start by saying this backs up the staleness in our game. However with Liverpool and Man City also at the top, we can’t be far off an optimal amount

Not sure it’s 100% loyalty, although in some cases it fits.
But we didn’t buy anyone for 18 months so couldn’t sell.
And those we wanted to sell we couldn’t find a buyer.
If Jan and Lamela go, that doesn’t leave too many from pre-Poch era.— OnlyOneKenobi (@grantd49) February 7, 2020
Some of these Spurs fans saluted the loyalty of players, whilst others believe that could be the reason behind the poor start to the season, suggesting that the club has gone ‘stale’.
What do we think?
If Spurs lost Vertonghen in the summer when his contract expires and move on the injury-prone Lamela, then they will suddenly look a lot less loyal, but that is perhaps what needs to be done so Jose Mourinho can properly move on from the Mauricio Pochettino era.
