Last night, Rangers fell even further behind in the title race after failing to pick up any points from their trip to Kilmarnock. The 2-1 loss is a huge blow to the side after they took the lead through Scott Arfield in the 32nd minute.
But during the match, there was a moment of controversy that left a lot of Rangers fans questioning the state of the Kilmarnock pitch. In the 70th minute, Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor received treatment after one of the astroturf pitch’s rubber pellets found its way into his eye. The Gers fans were furious and demanded that astroturf fields be eradicated from not just Scottish football, but the entire professional game.
Ban them now.

Plastic pitches have no place in professional football

All teams that have them should be threatened with relegation until they buy a grass pitch.

There is no place for those pitches in the top flight

Absolute state of this Killie plastic pitch, rubber pellet in McGregor’s eye.
Gie this stupid pitch a red card.
We need our game shot of these. Total embarrassment.#KilRan

Do you think the pitch played a part in Rangers' loss?
Yes
No
One fan even reshared a tweet from McGregor himself from back in 2018. In the tweet, McGregor called for rubber pitches to be eradicated as well.

What do we think?
There is no surprise as to why the Rangers fans were angry. All this could have been very much avoided if the game was played on grass. Luckily for the Gers, McGregor played out the rest of the match with no issue.
