Yesterday Rangers faced Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. In the first few games of 2020, Rangers have already dropped four points. That is just three fewer than the seven they dropped in the first half of this season. Luckily for Steven Gerrard and his side, they managed to achieve all three points after Ianis Hagi scored a late winner.
But, while Gers fans can look at a select few players to blame for their inability to kill off the game early, referee Bobby Madden took a lot of heat from the supporters. Hibernian committed 15 fouls during the game and only received two yellow cards.
What do you think Bobby Madden should have done?Given the yellowSent him off |
Fans were particularly fuming after Madden failed to book Hibernian’s Lewis Stevenson in the 89th minute. Judging by the footage, it looks like Stevenson forgot that he was playing football and thought he was in a wrestling ring. The player wraps both arms around Alfredo Morelos, before pulling the Colombian to the floor fiercely. The fans called Madden out for being a cheat, despite Stevenson receiving a yellow card a few minutes later for a separate incident.

We’d have forgiven Alfie for reacting ot that. Madden wouldn’t have tho.
That’s the point. Utterly disgraceful refereeing verging on cheating

The thing is, Stevenson then implied Morelos tried to stamp on him. Unbelievable.

Shocking but not surprising

What do we think?
The foul on Morelos was a bad one. How Madden believed it to be a challenge worthy of simply a stern talking to is baffling. Luckily, it won’t matter. Rangers escaped with all three points as they look to turn around their poor start to the calendar year.
