Liverpool fans have been slating Michael Owen on Twitter for his recent comments made about the club.

This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @mrbloodred shared a post on their page sharing their thoughts on Owen’s recent appearance on Jamie Carragher’s Greatest Game podcast.

During the episode, Owen spoke about his career involving his move away from Liverpool in 2004.

The post from the Twitter page then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who didn’t share the same thoughts on the former striker.

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slamming Owen:

The Englishman left Liverpool in 2004 for a move to Real Madrid. After having spells at Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City, Owen retired from professional football in 2013 (per Transfermarkt). After Owen’s appearance on Carragher’s podcast, this then paved the way for lots of Liverpool fans to share their thoughts on the striker, with many still not happy with him.

Some feel he is no more of a hero than the likes of Philippe Coutinho or Luis Suarez, who have both departed Anfield in recent years.

What do we think?

It seems that a big issue these Liverpool fans have with Owen is the fact that towards the end of his career he made the move to Liverpool’s greatest rivals, Manchester United. It’s a shame that after all these years, some Reds fans cant let bygones be bygones and move on from this decision Owen took in his own career.
