Fans of QPR have been reacting to a post on Twitter which asked whether they should reintroduce safe standing at Loftus Road.
In August 2018, the FA lent its support to the reintroduction of safe standing in the top two tiers of English football providing there is “clear evidence that satisfies authorities”.
Following the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 people tragically lost their lives, standing was outlawed in English stadiums by the 1989 Football Spectators’ Act.
However, in a 2018 survey, 94% of the 33,000 respondents said that fans should be able to choose whether they would like to stand or sit when attending a football match.
When the question was posed to QPR fans on Twitter, they too resoundingly believed that safe standing should be an option at Loftus Road.

What do we think?
Support for safe standing has been growing steadily in recent years, with Celtic already adopting railed seating which accommodates standing fans.
With 62% of MPs thought to be in favour of the project, it seems safe standing could be implemented in England in the not-too-distant future.
