Fans of Millwall have been reacting on social media to their U18 side’s 1-0 loss in the quarter-final stage of the FA Youth Cup.
The youth side, who had beaten Bolton 7-0, Fleetwood 3-1 and Bournemouth 3-2 on their way to the quarter-final, eventually fell 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in front of 1,000 travelling Millwall fans.
The only goal of the game came after Chelsea’s Armando Broja got on the end of a Marcel Lewis free-kick, before tapping home from close range.
Following the match, Millwall U18 manager Chris Perry stated: “I’m hugely proud of the effort and the application the boys put in. To come to a place like this and put on a defensive performance like that – we were outstanding defensively.”
He continued: “They didn’t cut us open once in open play. We’d only had one or two days to work on what we were trying to do. To come here and hold a team that good – they could easily go on and win it – 1-0 and to a set-piece, we can be immensely proud.”
In reaction to their youth side’s valiant effort against Chelsea, Millwall fans took to Twitter praising their future stars for how far they had come.
? Our journey in the #FAYouthCup comes to an end, but what an effort it's been by these lads.#Millwall

Decent effort against the best Youth team in the country, they thrashed Wolves 7-0 in the last round so certainly the future looks good with this group of players

What do we think?
There is no disgrace in Millwall losing to Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup, as the West London side are the second-most successful side in the history of the competition, winning it on nine occasions. Only Manchester United, who have won the cup 10 times, are more successful than the Blues.
