As recently as a few months ago, Leeds United looked as though they were going to cruise to Premier League promotion. However, following just two victories in their last six Championship outings, things don’t appear anywhere near as comfortable with Fulham in third now just three points behind Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
After any disappointing result, there is going to be a lengthy and often brutal post-mortem, and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has been the subject of some strong criticism following the defeat at the hands of Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
He received a rating of 5.56 for his performance (WhoScored), which perhaps goes to prove why fans were angry with what they saw from the Spaniard in between the sticks.
Should Kiko Casilla start the next fixture?
Yes
No
Kiko Casilla and Patrick Bamford will cost Leeds united promotion this year and if any disagrees I’m in the peacock. Step up #lufc

If you continue to back Bamford after today’s performance then I’m sorry but you’re accepting mediocrity for our great club. It’s time the likes of him and Casilla were dropped, simple as. #lufc

Glad you @andrearadri thinks winning ONLY 2 in 9 games ( with 4 defeats in there), extremely extremely funny, with the prospect of our defence and Clown Casilla nosediving our chances of promotion. Very Funny HAHA https://t.co/M90wnqullx

Leeds fans: Well at least we won’t sign a dodgier goalkeeper than Felix Wiedwald again.
*Kiko Casilla: hold my beer*#lufc

Get Bamford and casilla out of that club.

I don’t want to overreact, but I would immediately drop Casilla for Meslier. #lufc #MOT https://t.co/WFLwCjUBzL

What do we think?
Casilla, who is valued at £2.7 million (as per Transfermarkt), arrived at Elland Road from Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer in January 2019. Since then, he’s played 51 times for the club, conceding 51 goals.
The 33-year-old has kept 19 clean sheets for the Whites but clearly hasn’t done enough to earn the unwavering support of the Leeds faithful.
Marcelo Bielsa refused to blame the goalkeeper for the goal his side conceded in his post-match press conference and seems unlikely to drop the player contrary to the wishes of the fans.
