Some Birmingham City fans have been discussing the ‘relief’ they felt upon witnessing Scott Hogan’s 91st-minute equaliser in their recent 3-3 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

Jacob Murphy fired Sheffield Wednesday into the lead in this past Saturday’s fixture in the 65th minute of the game. The Blues subsequently trailed their opponents by a 3-2 scoreline until the 91st-minute when a stoppage-time strike from Scott Hogan salvaged a point for the home side.

In addition to earning the Blues a point in Saturday’s game, the Irish international’s late equaliser made sure that the Blues extended their current unbeaten run to 11 straight games in all competitions. 

The Birmingham City faithful responded to a post from the club’s official Twitter account that included footage of Hogan’s late goal and asked Blues fans to reply with a description of how they felt “when this hit the back of the net”. Many Birmingham City fans may have felt relief as Hogan’s strike hit the back of the net last Saturday as Hogan’s goal ensured that the Blues extended their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions. 

In addition to that, their draw with Sheffield Wednesday keeps 14th placed Birmingham City level on points with 12th placed Sheffield Wednesday on the Championship league table, allowing the Blues to stay within touching distance of the top half of the table. 

Birmingham City currently sit in second place in the Championship’s form table for the past eight games. Only Preston North End have earned more points than the Blues in that time. Some of the Birmingham City faithful may have felt overjoyed at seeing their side earn a point late on in Saturday’s game, continuing their current positive run of form.
