On Monday, journalist Alan Nixon reported that Rangers were showing interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Miguel Luis. This was the first instance of this rumour surfacing and caught many Rangers fans on Twitter by surprise.
The 20-year-old has made just seven appearances for Sporting Lisbon across all competitions this season, racking up 566 minutes of football. With an estimated transfer value of £2.7 million, it is unlikely that Rangers would be able to wrap up this deal for a cheap price.
Rangers fans showed some reservations about their club’s interest in the player. They don’t think the side need another midfielder. They aren’t impressed that his only contribution in two league games this season is a yellow card. They want someone who is going to help contribute with goals and assists. They would rather see the club sign a forward or winger.

Wud rather see 1 or 2 strikers looming as been proved on how short we are up front

Would you take the gamble on signing Miguel Luis?
Yes
No
Some fans are more excited by the news, however. They think the player would be an excellent purchase for the future. One fan is assuming Sporting must be short of cash if they are trying to offload their player. Others don’t know what to think, simply calling the rumour an ‘interesting’ one.
Miguel Luis would be some move, boys rated quite highly apparently

Despite the fact I’ve never watched him play or even heard of him I’m convinced he’s the answer to our problems. Bring him home.

Sporting are skint apparently. Fire sale going on.

What do we think?
At the end of the day, Nixon’s report was later quashed, with The National suggesting Rangers have no interest in the player. With that being said, there is no smoke without fire. The rumours must have come from somewhere, so perhaps there is still a chance this move could happen.
