Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Jack Harrison as one of the true leaders in the dressing room.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds player believes that Harrison looks settled and happy.

Would you sign Harrison permanently for Leeds?

Yes, he is a great player

No, they can do better

No, they can do better

He also thinks that he is one of the leaders in the dressing room and can often be seen trying to ignite the fire.

Harrison, to Whelan, looks more relaxed, and he thinks that the Whites need more like Harrison.

Whelan thinks that at this stage of the season, you need 11 leaders on the field people who are going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Here’s exactly what he had to say:

“Jack looks settled and happier at the football club,” he said.

“He is one player where you can see leadership. When things aren’t going well he is the one trying to ignite the fire. It is great to see that he feels more relaxed so he can be that leader and get the players going. We need more like that.

“When you come to this stage of the season you need 11 leaders out there. People who are going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and demand from their own teammates and that sort of character is what you need and what gets you the promotion.

“The people that are weak around you, will let you down.”

What do we think?

The 23-year-old is now a key part of Marcelo Bielsa’s side after struggling at Elland Road in his first season with Leeds.

This year he has already beaten his goal and assists tally having banged in five goals and provided six assists.

It was revealed not long ago that the Whites have an option to buy in Harrison’s deal for £8m – which for a player who is constantly improving could be a bargain for Bielsa’s side next season.

The addition of Ian Poveda should provide Harrison with a boost as well because there is now genuine competition in the Leeds squad.

As well as Poveda, the Whites also have Pablo Hernandez and Helder Costa. So, Bielsa has plenty of options available to him as he looks to win promotion.

Bielsa clearly rates Harrison, and it would not be a surprise if the Whites do decide to buy Harrison.
