These Leeds United fans were discussing Tony Harrington being appointed as the referee for the Peacock’s clash against Wigan on Saturday.
It’s been confirmed that Tony Harrington will be the referee for Leeds United’s clash against Wigan on Saturday, with Timothy Wood, Matthew McGrath and Tom Nield making up the rest of the officiating team. This was later relayed to these fans via Jo Bedford who usually updates fans on these appointments on Twitter.
In the 10 Peacocks matches Harrington has refereed, Marcelo Bielsa’s side has only won 30% of them which could be why some of these fans are nervous about Saturday.
Will Leeds beat Wigan?
Yes
No
Here are some of the comments from the Leeds fans on Twitter:
Interestingly, last nights 4th official v Millwall will be the referee for Saturdays game against Wigan
Tony Harrington returns to Leeds after recently taking charge of the 3-3 draw v Cardiff in Dec. Notably not giving us a penalty when Costa was brought down.

In all fairness he gave us a penalty in the end at Cardiff for a softer foul than when Costa was fouled. Swings and roundabouts with referees. Clearly likes to give penalties so Leeds will need to try and avoid stupid needless tackles #MOT

It’s highly likely that Leeds will need Patrick Bamford to be on top form again, with their £5.40m-rated man scoring twice against Milwall last time out, if the 26-year-old can do the same again it might ease the pressure off of the referee’s decisions – which would also calm these fans down a little bit.
After seeing last night’s dismal display by the ref and linesman. Maybe he owes us a favourable performance. Though I very much doubt it!

What Do We Think?
You can’t really judge how a referee will handle a match before the game, however, Leeds have a bad record when Harrington is in charge, so maybe these Peacocks fans have a right to be nervous about Saturday’s match.
