Leeds United are still reported to be interested in Hull’s Jarrod Bowen despite having a failed bid for the forward.

According to an exclusive by TeamTalk, Leeds are keen on Bowen despite having an initial loan bid rejected.

Should Leeds put in another bid for Jarrod Bowen?

Bowen’s contract with Hull expires on 30th June 2020 but has a further one-year extension clause should the Championship side decide to use it (Transfermarkt).

The TeamTalk report also suggests that the Peacocks are still keen to bring in another forward option by the end of the January window.

However, this goes against Bielsa’s statement that Leeds’ January business is done.

Would Jarrod Bowen be a good move for Leeds United?

Bowen currently has 16 goals and five assists in 28 Championship appearances, which is an amazing haul considering the level of the Championship and is probably why Leeds are so interested in signing the forward (Transfermarkt).

The 23-year-old mainly plays in the right-wing position, but has played as a centre-forward and left-wing for Hull this season, showing good versatility which could be useful for Marcelo Bielsa (Transfermarkt).

Helder Costa might not be massively pleased with these latest rumours, as so far this season the winger has only scored three times in the Championship when playing a similar role to Bowen (Whoscored).

The Englishman has more goals, assists and is younger than Costa, meaning that should Bowen join the Peacocks, the Portuguese winger could be in big trouble should Bowen continue in his current form.

TIF Tactics – Verdict

It’s a very big if, but if Leeds can manage to secure the Bowen deal, this could be a huge bump in the road for Costa as the Portuguese winger will now have a true rival to compete with.

This would, of course, be a very smart move by Bielsa, but surely buying from another Championship side will make the deal a little bit harder to complete.
