A lot of Leeds United fans have responded to Kalvin Phillips’ post in which he apologises for his red card against QPR.
The 24-year-old, who is valued at £9.9m by Transfermarkt, went in late and hard on Geoff Cameron, and the referee decided that the challenge was worthy of a red card, (2:28) and Phillips will now miss the next three matches at a crucial time of the season for the Whites.
Will Leeds miss Phillips?
Yes, he makes them tick
No, his standards have dipped recently
However, it seems that many Leeds supporters are behind Phillips and actually feel his frustration.
Sorry to the #LUFC fans for my red card yesterday. It wasn’t intentional but I timed the tackle badly. I’m a Leeds fan as well as a player so maybe a little frustration that we have all been feeling was shown but… https://t.co/QlmhdAf4JH

It takes a big man and even bigger balls to come out on the toxic world of social media and apologise.
Fair play to you Kelvin ?#Lufc— Martin Threadgold (@FredgoldMartin) January 19, 2020
Fair play for acknowledging and apologising. We’re all frustrated but no time to lose our heads. Composure required! Time for you to rest up and come back with a point to prove! #MOT

Other Whites fans, though, believe that Phillips has left their team in a bad position with his recklessness.
Mate can’t go through a repeat of last had three days off work to get over that Derby play off match the true fans are behind all of you but we are starting to look lack-luster and out of cutting edge ideas up front #mot

We all have a choice in certain situations, you didn’t choose wisely Kalvin, how the team must lose you for 3 games during our toughest time. Clear your head, knuckle down and make sure you get back performing to the best of your ability…cos we need you

Bad tackle but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. You are a great player Kalvin but the red couldn’t have come at a worse time. Hopefully one day we’ll return to the big time although I’m doubting it will be in my lifetime but I hope I’m wrong. Onto the next one always Leeds MOT

What do we think?
Leeds are on a poor run in the league; it is now one win in seven, and on Saturday, they once again created plenty of chances, but QPR punished them.
The Rs took the lead just before half time as an Eberechi Eze free-kick deflected into the path of Nahki Wells, who fired the ball home. (0:54)
The goal probably should not have stood because the ball hit Wells’ hands before he forced it in. (1:03)
However, the Whites had plenty of opportunities to at least take something from the match.
Patrick Bamford missed a penalty (1:46) and a one-on-one (1:24) before Phillips let his frustration get the better of him.
Leeds will now be without one of their best players as they look to turn around their form.
