Some Celtic fans have been left to poke fun at Melbourne City FC’s confirmation of signing Jack Hendry from the Hoops in the January transfer window.
Bhoys have already loaned out central defender Hendry to A-League club Melbourne, with the player set to return to the club at the end of the campaign. The club’s official statement has said that Hendry has arrived on an ‘injury replacement contract’.
Can Hendry come back and play for Celtic?
Never, he's useless
He can be a squad player
When the A-League club made the transfer official on social media, Hoops fans hijacked the post and poked fun at the defender.
If only they knew

Hendry had joined Celtic from the then Premiership side Dundee in the winter of 2018. He had arrived at the club on an undisclosed fee, while Scott Bain had come on a loan deal.
This season, Hendry made just a single appearance in all competitions. That appearance came in the League Cup, in which he played only 11 minutes of a game against Partick Thistle. He didn’t make a single Premiership appearance.
In the 2018-19 season, the defender had made 15 appearances in all competitions for the club. Four of those appearances came in the Premiership, with two coming in the Europa League.
In the 2017-18 campaign, Hendry had become a regular in the second half of the campaign after arriving at the club. He made 13 appearances in the Premiership for the club that season.
What do we think?
Hendry’s appearances show that his impact at the club has lowered over the last few months. The 24-year-old is still young and needs some regular football to develop in the right way. Going away from Celtic allows him to do just that.
