Dean Henderson has been a brilliant loan signing for Sheffield United this season. He is joint top in the Premier League Golden Glove race, achieving eight clean sheets already. Ben Foster, Nick Pope and Kasper Schmeichel all have eight clean sheets as well.
But Chris Wilder admitted that the club would be unable to retain his services permanently from Manchester United during a press conference this week (via @SheffieldUnited). The English shot-stopper is currently on loan from the Red Devils and is set to rejoin his home club in the summer.
“It won’t be on a permanent basis, definitely not. His future is at Manchester United, no doubt. If the opportunity came about that figure would be huge. If the opportunity comes about that we could get him back on loan next season we’d be all over that,” said Wilder about the player potentially joining the Blades for next year’s campaign (Sheffield United).
A few fans were happy with Wilder’s honesty and are content to just watch the goalkeeper play while he is at the club. They agree that any fees for Henderson would be much too high. Others are naturally gutted though.
Glad you've put everyone straight Chris. His wages are unaffordable to the Blades, let alone a transfer fee. We'll just enjoy him while hes here. ??

Do you ever see Henderson signing for the Blades permanently?
Yes
No
But others aren’t giving up hope. Despite Wilder saying the player’s transfer would cost too much, they think it would be worth it. Either that or they should take him on loan again and run down his Manchester United contract. One fan even warns Henderson that the Manchester United fans will be ruthless if he fails to live up to his expectations.
Well when we’re a champions league club, 40 million for England’s no.1 will just be a normal signing so keep it up Chris and we will have him on a pearm

If we can get him on loan and run down his contract another year we might be able to afford him

Maybe he’s worth that huge figure. Not this summer but maybe next.
We’re not a club to spend big so you’d think that after 2 seasons in the premier league we’d have quite a bit of money saved up.
If Man U say they want 40 or 50 million for him, would that be the worst business?— Sheff – Nap (@TeachSUFC) January 23, 2020
One things for sure Man U fans won’t be half as forgiving as us!

What do we think?
With David De Gea making a few mistakes already this season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be looking to bring in Henderson sooner rather than later. If he isn’t being brought in to replace the Spaniard next year, Sheffield United will likely be the first choice destination should he go back out on loan. But as Wilder said, his future looks destined for Manchester United. That might be something that Sheffield United fans just have to live with.
