Some Celtic fans have made it clear that they would be very happy to see centre-back Jack Hendry leave the club in the ongoing January transfer window.

With the window now having swung open, latest reports from the Daily Record claiming that defender Hendry is wanted by League One clubs Blackpool and Lincoln City. Both of them have been tracking Hendry’s progress, with the player keen on getting more regular first-team football at Parkhead.

Both Blackpool and Lincoln want to sign the player till the end of the season. Bolton Wanderers are also interested, although it may be tough to sign him with them at the bottom of League One amid all the financial issues they had, as highlighted in the report.

Celtic fans: Should Hendry leave?

Indeed, it would appear some Celtic fans are glad about these links and would be happy to see him leave.

Hendry has been out of favour at the club this season under Neil Lennon, with the defender having played just once in all competitions so far. That appearance came only in the League Cup in the initial stages of the competition.

This is a fall from grace since last season too. Hendry had played 15 times in all competitions for the Hoops last season, with only four of them coming in the Premiership. He had played four times in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages, appearing twice in the Europa League.

Hendry has previously played in England, having made six appearances for Shrewsbury Town, playing 12 times for MK Dons. He also made three appearances for Wigan Athletic.

What do we think?

Hendry should move away from Celtic. At 24, he can’t risk his development and allow his career to stagnate, when he isn’t getting any first-team football. Going back to the League One will be a very good escape route since he’s been there in the past too.
