Aston Villa fans have been calling for former her Christian Benteke to make a return to Villa Park this month.
This comes after a Tweet was shared by @NathanDawe on his official Twitter page of a picture of Benteke with the caption “bring him home.”
Would Christian Benteke regain his form if he returned to Villa?
Yes
No
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who shared the same sentiments on the striker.
Interestingly, Aston Villa have reportedly been offered the chance to sign the striker, but it’s understood that the club haven’t returned with a message for Crystal Palace.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans wanting to see Benteke re-sign to the Birmingham club in the January transfer window:

Seen lots of varied opinions on a possible Benteke return. Here’s mine… yes please. Would love to see the pointing to the skies as he scores in a claret and blue shirt again. Can’t be any worse than Kodjia ????

The Belgian scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for the club when he was a Villa player, picking up 12 assists as well (per TransferMarkt).
Now the current Crystal Palace striker, who is valued at £11.7 million according to TransferMarkt, has been the topic of conversation regarding a move back to Villa this month, some fans want to see him back in Birmingham.

What do we think?
Given Benteke’s record when he was a Villa player, it’s understandable why some fans would want him to return to the club. But his record recently has been quite poor. So far for Palace this season, Benteke has made 16 appearances without registering a goal or assist (per TransferMarkt).
Whether Villa do make the move for Benteke is yet to be seen, but would the move be out of sentimentality or based off current ability?
