Liverpool fans have been criticising Pep Guardiola for his recent comments about Manchester City.

This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @AnfieldEdition shared a post on their page of Guardiola’s comments on how his team are unable to compete with Liverpool and other big clubs. The post also included an image of City’s net spend on transfers since the 2016/17 season.

Here’s what Guardiola had to say:

“Liverpool, United, Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus. They are the teams we have to face and the reality is maybe we are not able now to compete with them.”

This post then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were quick to slate the Spaniard for his comments.

Who are Liverpool's main rivals for the title this year?

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans criticising the two-time Premier League winning manager:

Guardiola said this after seeing his team lose 2-1 to Manchester United at the weekend. But despite winning seven trophies during his time in England seeing his team break numerous records, some Liverpool fans were still quick to point out City’s net spend on transfers under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

What do we think?

Liverpool fans are going to take any opportunity they can to criticise City and Guardiola after losing out to them in last season’s Premier League season. Now that Liverpool are 14 points ahead of the current champions in the Premier League table, some Reds fans will be thinking City won’t be retaining their title this time around.
