Liverpool fans have been discussing Philippe Coutinho on Twitter.
This comes after Liverpool fan Twitter account @Mobyhaque1 shared a post on their page using the Brazilian as a negative example for youngsters around the world.
Which player is more important for Liverpool?
Virgil van Dijk
Alisson
This post then gathered a number of replies from Liverpool fans who saw the opportunity to rip the former Anfield star to shreds.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans reacting to the post:
One fan even stated that he’s a greater snake than Raheem Sterling, which relates to supporters seemingly labelling him in the same way after he left for Manchester City back in 2015, with reports at the time stating that he was reluctant to sign a new deal, so perhaps some fans felt it was down to money.
Coutinho chose his part. He wanted to leave. We can blame the agent all we want but he also showed he wanted to leave. He’s a greater snake than Sterling. In fact Sterling is learning where Coutinho is

Coutinho was sold to Spanish giants Barcelona in the 2018 January transfer window for a fee of £130.5 million (per TransferMarkt). Although, his exit can now be looked upon as a positive thing as Van Dijk signed in the same January from Southampton for a fee of £76.19 million. Then in the following summer transfer window, Alisson signed from Roma for a fee of £56.25 million (per TransferMarkt).
Indeed, the attacker managed to produce 54 goals and 45 assists in just over 200 games for the Merseyside club, but it was his Anfield exit that really angered fans as he developed into a world-class player under the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp, only to ditch the club for the bright lights of Barcelona, as well as paying £11.5 million of his own money in order to help force the move.
Not to mention the fact that he’ll always be overshadowed as long as Messi is around.

I’m glad Coutinho left. We look a better side and it enabled the club to build smartly. But most of all it sent a message to Mané, Mo, Bobby et al of the dangers of wanting to leave for a Barça or Real. Of all the players we could’ve sold for that lesson, it’d be Phil everytime.

Coutinho regrets his decision.

What do we think?
Given how successful both Van Dijk and Alisson have been since their arrival on Merseyside and how Coutinho’s time at Barcelona didn’t go as well as some may have thought, it’s understandable why so many Reds fans are now completely over the Brazilian’s Anfield exit.
Of course, times have changed since Coutinho was at Anfield with the Reds now champions of the world and Jurgen Klopp has built an immovable attack, which would now most likely be impossible for Coutinho to break into.
